Scratch project part 2.

The balloon project has been going good, I made the balloon ask questions and it gives a sound off when you get a wrong answer or a right answer. Use the arrow keys and grab the balloons. You have to answer the blue balloon because it asks you "What is 8x8?". That's all I wanted to say and bye.

Program development.

Today I let Luke fix my software because it made Tane disappear when touching the balloons. Luke fixed it and now it's running smoothly with the balloons respawning. I put comments on what the blocks do.

Informal and formal language.

So today I made a comic explaining the difference between formal and informal language.

Programming in scratch.

So today we had Kerry-Boyd Preece come in and teach us how to do scratch projects. I made a minigame that involves catching balloons, but you just clip straight through them. It's not finished but I tried my hardest. Use the arrow keys to go into the balloons and the game gives you points for touching the balloons, do do that.

Reflection.

On Wednesday this week, my group made teddy bear cookies, except they were normal cookies but with a button in the middle. We had to compromise for some of them ingredients because we didn't have cornflour. But anyways it went great the cookies were cooked and the chocolate was soft so that's cool. Yeah that's basically what happened, now I gotta do conversions.

Reflection.

So on Wednesday this week we made these custard tart pastry thingies and we actually did good. I didn't yell at my teammates and they cooperated. We worked together and the finished product was amazing, I was just sad that I couldn't put the chocolate sauce on the tarts because we ran out of time and the sauce was washed away. Other than that, the cooking was successful, but we need to work on our time management, that was a big factor. So yeah that's how food tech went and I'm actually starting to enjoy it because we're doing well.

About me.

My name is Kiro, I’m 14 and I go to Bay Of Islands College. I’m maori and I live with my mother, father, brother and my brothers girlfriend. I like english, because all I do is write my mind and explain things, it’s pretty easy. I’m being challenged by food tech because my group mates are clueless. My goal is to be best year 10 boy in terms of smartness. I have achieved a high excellence in my english test and I didn’t think that existed until now. I also like playing sports. I also like making friends. :) be my friend. Boom done goodbye.

There's my face. enjoy :)

Sticky pudding with butterscotch sauce.

Yesterday we made sticky pudding with butterscotch sauce. It uh, didn't turn out good because the pudding tasted like pure seawater but cake version. Was nasty as. Next time we gonna make it better by actually putting more sugar than baking soda. I think that's where we went wrong. Probably because of me shouting at my braindead teamates, well they're not that bad. But they ask me what to do all the time when the instruction are right there and it ticks me off. We need to work on coordination and overall happiness cause no-ones happy with me shouting at them even if they need it. So yeah that's my reflection.

Meaning of food.

The meaning of food is life, you need food to have energy to move around, you need food to preform daily tasks and most of all, you need food to live. Our organs need protein to digest and process so we can move. The body needs protein to grow and develop. The way of life is literally based on food. We wouldn't exist if we didn't have food. Survival is a key trait in humans and food is needed to survive. That is the meaning of food to me.

The rabbit proof fence.

The rabbit proof fence is a very dark and informative film. It talks about the stolen generations, a generation of aboriginals that were taken away from their families and fostered by Europeans. The Europeans were scared of the aboriginals so the Europeans oppressed them by shaping them into the way they thought was right. Shaping them into slaves. Molly, Daisy and Gracie are a part of the stolen generations and the movie revolves around how the trio escape a correction centre. Gracie never made it home. I like the fact that Molly and Daisy made it home and had the confidence to speak out about these unjust actions.

PST Conference.

In maths, science, social studies, english and music I've been doing amazing! my grades are like M or higher and I've been aiming for only excellences. Food technology is a bit hard because my group people are hard to manage but I can adapt. Health and Physical Education is going amazing because I always show up, do my best and get merits.
Social studies.E.
Science.E.
English.E.
Math.E.
Music. E.
Health and physical education.E.
Food technology.E.
I will reach all of these goals by putting in work and researching the subjects, I will also practise the topic we are on at home to get higher grades. I will constantly put in the effort to achieve these grades and will always try to constantly improve on the subjects. I don't have a script because I'm gonna be casual with my teacher. I've been doing good in all my subjects and got merits and higher boom goodbye.

Camera angles and shots.

Me and Midas learnt about crane movements with camera angles and we had to fill out a camera shot glossary showing the different angles and shots. We also learnt about the importance of the high angle shot, which makes the person look powerless.

Councillor's Feedback.

I don't really feel like I have many duties, I just come to school, give feedback to Karlos at meetings and express the class/schools problem with things. I also help people with their problems and give feedback where I can but some problems I can't fix. I mean, I'm not saying that my duties are not important, like I take pride in what I do, it's just a simple process of listening to the feedback of my class and expressing that in meetings and that's all I have to do and I remain as a councillor and I like to be held to a high standard because not many people are chosen to do this, also I am a representative, need to show quality. I'm honestly happy with the school but the socks need to change because they smell like concentrated sweat and when you go into MPA and take your socks off, the smell attacks your nose.
I have ideas from my class.
1. Fix broken seats
2. Fix the water fountains
3. Weight division for arm wrestling and strength competitions.
4. Need more talkers about maori/pakeha history.
5. Need more games.

Coding.

So today me and Ben did some coding in maths class, I put noises in for yes or no answers and Ben helped me record them. I'll embed the project below. You can clearly see we worked hard on the questions and variables but feedback could be appreciated. Anyways I gotta go so bye.

What if I was an atom?

If I was an atom, I honestly don't know what I'd do, being so small that you can't be seen by the naked eye. I might just float around until the universe explodes and even then I would be floating around. An endless cycle of floating and dust particles is not very ideal for a social person like me.

Binary

Today I learned about binary and it's kind of easy. We did a word search and started learning about bits and we were tasked with making our birth months in binary, the number 15, the number 9 and the number 8. We learned that bits multiply by 2 to get to higher numbere. Example 16 to 32.
This is my birth month, June.
Number 8.

Number 9.

Number 15.

The importance of having a sleep schedule.

The importance of having a sleep schedule is because you can become lazy, overtired and unhealthy. This can affect your emotion in a negative way while having a good sleep schedule can make you happy and energetic.

Returning to school.

To be honest, I really don't want to go to school and my reason is because I don't want to put my family at risk. Missing the tuck shop. But I should be going back to school to see my mates, miss physical contact with my friends and going for strolls around the school. Although I really want to go, I chose to stay home in case college gets infected (which it probably won't). My feelings are mixed for going back to school because one, there's physical contact (which isn't bad since you've been starved of it since the beginning of lock down) and two, the small percentage of school being infected. I probably will come back anyways but these are my feelings on returning to school.

What I would change in the government.

I would change the never ending racism towards black and brown people. People believe that if they're a part of a different colour, they are more dominant towards other coloured people, which I don't believe is fair. People have the right to be equal but the majority of people that are racist, continue to be racist, even though it goes against a human right.

Obama.

I chose Obama as my leader because he represents strength, courage and the voice to speak up about racial inequality. Obama is my ideal leader because he is empathetic towards the people and understands other peoples shortcomings.

Reflection on lockdown.

Lock down for me, is pretty chill. I get to do my work from a comfortable place such as my bed and the kitchen, I get to cook for myself and I get to sleep. The one downside of lock down is that I can't see my friends as often as I used to see them. It kind of makes me feel sad because I like to socialise and right now, i'm being confined to a bubble. I miss being able to spend time with my friends.
I do like the fact that I can relax and stuff the only downside is the no physical contact. Anything to prevent the spread of the virus I guess... But that's my reflection on lock down. I don't have really any concerns about corona virus because I've been inside this whole time.

Space Invaders.

Today I made a space invaders game on micro bit make code. Press the play button and use the A and B buttons to move. The A+B button is to shoot. Click on the {} button to see the actual code. So the {} button shows you the actual code and not the blocks because the blocks are a simplified version of code. If code is indented that means that it is running off of another program. This makes the code not all play at once and destroying the game. You don't want the enemy ships to shoot do you? But in all seriousness, this game took a long while to create and I hope you enjoy playing it as much as I do.

Forces and motion.

This week we have been learning about forces and motions. I am intrigued with this topic as it relates to how the world works and the fields of forces that exist in or world, such as gravity. This topic is very important so we can understand how these forces work and why they exist. Such as magnetic forces, which affect metal by attracting it. Also like gravity, which holds us to the earth. Another example is earth's magnetic field which stretches north and south and everywhere across the world. We also did an experiment with magnets and iron filings, testing the magnetic field it creates.

Electronics

We have been learning how to code using Microbit and Make Code. The program that you see before you is a dice program I created with myself. Use the simulator by clicking the play button and click the {} button to see the actual code.

Science

In Science, I learn my best when it's quiet.
I will also try my best in order to get a Excellence or Merit, which I am going for.
I will reach these goals.
Science is also easy to learn because I just need it to be explained.
Science was easy to learn last week because the instruction were straightforward.
